and electrical outlets were raised two feet; and all flooring, walls, and exterior finishes were constructed of water- resistant materials. Since Charlestown Marina has several sister properties in the area, boaters are able to take advantage of services offered at other locations, including a 50-ton travel lift, workspace for boat service, and dry storage.
Tight-Knit Community
To establish a sense of community at Charlestown Marina, guests and residents have access to over 2,880 linear feet of landscaped public harbor walk, an outdoor lounge, complimentary Wi-Fi, and grilling stations. "There are families who call our marina home. We cheer on the children who live here when they learn to ride their bike down the harbor walk," said Macy Jones, marketing manager for Ocean Havens, LLC. "This is a place where life-long friendships and memories are made." There is also a 100-foot public transportation dock that is open for vessels to stop and go. It also houses a complimentary water shuttle service provided by Pier 6, the waterfront seafood restaurant located at the marina. That community atmosphere is especially thriving on Pier 8, where Charlestown Marina's 60 liveaboards
ENVIRONMENTAL INITIATIVES
Charlestown Marina takes numerous measures to limit its impact on the environment. Recycling containers are located at all gangways, encouraging customers to recycle. The marina participates in the Massachusetts Clean Vessel Act (MA-CVA), which provides free pumpout services to recreational boaters along the coast. This program is funded by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services' Sportfish Restoration program. To minimize the amount of single- use plastic being disposed of at the marina, each Charlestown Marina guest receives a complimentary, reusable water bottle upon their arrival. The facility has also partnered with 4ocean, a company that manages one of the world's largest ongoing ocean cleanup operations, and carries their reusable water bottles and merchandise at its ship's store to support their mission to remove plastic from oceans. In addition to these initiatives, Charlestown Marina has plans to introduce a new program to recycle shrink wrap. "We believe in protecting our planet, so all of these activities are very important to us and to our future," Chuck Lagasse said.
